Texavi conducted a training workshop on Practical Software Usability at Steelwedge Software’s office in Hyderabad. The 2-day intensive workshop was attended by product manager, technical leaders, business analysts, pre-sales and sales support consultants, developers, designers and QA engineers from Steelwedge.
Training Coverage
Focus of the session was practical user experience management in software product development. Participants learnt how various tools, techniques, and principles in usability engineering can be implemented to create a software product that not only works well, but brings delight to its users and maximize value for all the stakeholders. The workshop was extremely interactive drawing participants’ interest and activity through examples from real life products, case studies from software development and also fun games to drive home the concepts and principles involved in the processes.
Takeaways for participants
Participants learnt through role plays and example-driven cases, the key activities in the Analysis phase comprising stakeholder interviews, user profiling, personae development, and user studies. Then User-centered Design activities were taught covering the key areas such as information architecture, wireframing, prototyping and user interface design, sprinkled with examples and practice sessions. The workshop concluded with coverage of evaluation methodologies including usability testing, and heuristic evaluation. All through the session, participants got to work on live products from within the organization, to enhance their contextual learning, thus leading to well-grounded learning.
