International Institute of Business Analysis, IIBA’s Mumbai chapter recently hosted the Agile BA workshop at Welingker Institute in Mumbai. Team from Texavi was invited to talk to the members and aspirants comprising business systems analysts, product managers, project managers, academicians and other IT professionals.
Workshop Coverage
This workshop focused on the emerging role of business and systems analysts in the times of Agile development methodologies. Participants were led through the evolution of traditional software development practices and how business analysts had been developing, and managing requirements in the past. The speaker then introduced the emerging concepts and practices of agile development such as SCRUM, and how the newer role of business analyst is more aligned to that of the product owner in the agile projects.
Takeaways for participants
The talk was interspersed with practical aspects and challenges arising in the day-to-day context of various roles in software product development projects, the dynamics amongst them in real-life project scenarios. Besides explaining the concepts involved in the Agile development methodologies such as product backlog, sprint backlog, user stories and user story cards, the speaker also showed sample documents and artifacts from actual projects. It was an interactive and lively session with participants raising lot of questions and sharing their experiences too.
